Science precautions
Reflexion: In this assessment I learned how to be safe in a science class, and I learned the meanings of all the hazards, it was pretty fun, and it is something i wont forget.
Kilgharrah
Kilgharrah, the great dragon
In a small town in Germany, called Glockenheim, there once was this tradition: Every Clockmaker's apprentice as a graduation had to create his own figure for the great clock. And so it has been for many years, and Ely wasn’t an exception.
He had already made a figure, and it was ferocious. It’s name was Kilgharrah, and he was a dragon. Ely had been working on it for a long time, and due to his perfectionist talent, Kilgharrah was the most detailed figure in the whole clock, or that’s what Ely was expecting.
It was a purple-green dragon with shiny golden eyes, his scales so polished that the sun reflected its light. His teeth perfectly sanded that looked even whiter than a pearl. But above all, the greatness in it’s smell. As you breathed in, you felt as if you were besides a bonfire, inhaling all the ashes that raised from the ground before burning coal had turned to dust, and only dust.
After placing him on top of the clock, Ely arranged the mechanics, placed the final piece, and... voila! The gigantic green dragon was above the other figures, as expected, calling for attention.
As the clock chimed every hour, Kilgharrah whipped his wings up and down pretending he was flying. He opened his mouth and spit a tiny stream of water, along with a burst of air, blowing every single leaf off the floor.
Under Kilgharrah, you could see a tiny one-inched egg. It was polished and painted so perfectly it looked like a real egg, about to hatch.
He is made of all kinds of materials. His scales are made of iron sheets one on top of the other, painted with olive green as beautifully as a Renaissance masterpiece. His tusks made of sanded marble, shiny as a biblical scene. His eyes are two bronze spheres peering out of his eyelids, carved to look smooth as they blinked. His eyelashes made of the thinnest silk strings in all Germany. His wings, made of silvery sheets painted to look as a strong and ferocious tone of gold. And his claws, made of the brightest granite of the mines of Schatzberg.
Ely was surely one of the best clockmaker's apprentice the whole town had ever seen, the way he wound up the nuts, and placed the mainsprings, it was like magic! And to make Kilgharrah, he sure went to hell for a moment, but his abilities wouldn’t allow him to give up, not now, not ever.
Kilgharrah was made of the most refined clockwork pieces Ely was able to get, not rusty, not broken, just as a luxury in mechanics. As how he made Kilgharrah, it is all far more complicated that only gears and whirrs.
The dragon contains all part of machinery you can ever imagine, some made of iron, others of silver and gold. But as any other clockwork figure, Kilgharrah was incredibly perfect according to Ely and the other citizens of Glockenheim, and the moment the figure went on public, over the great clock, Ely had left his mark over Glockenheim, over Germany, over the world.
Reflexión: En este trabajo yo escribí mi propia historia sobre un dragón, me gusto mucho e hice trabajar mi creatividad de una vez por toda.

A story to enjoy
The Diary of a Child who Grew Up to be a Man
1320 b.C
Hi, my name is Yair, I’m 11 years old and I want to be a painter, like my father.
I've always loved how dad paints, specially on those walls and paper.
He gave me this diary after I told him I wanted to be just like him!
I will write everything I learn so I can study again!
Dad told me that the technique they use is frontalism, which is that all the people is looking right or left, like in side face.
He also said that they use a grid to measure their drawings, to make them all of the same size.
The grid is filled with 19 squares of the same size, feet to hairline are the 18 squares, and the head accesories the 19th one.
Also the knee goes between squares 5 and six, the elbows at 12, the shoulders at square 15 for female and 16 for men, which are 5 squares across for female and 6 for men.
The hip goes in the 11th square.
And he also told me something really cool...
Men have separated feet and woman together! -So that’s something I wasn’t expecting!
1316 b.C
Hello, my dear diary! I'm finally 15! sorry for forgetting about keeping writing, but I lost it, and I’ve just found it!
My dad kept teaching me a lot of stuff! Like how to draw children, that are drawn really small.
During these years, I’ve also learned about my mother’s work, agriculture, which is really interesting! She said that her work is all because of the Nile river, which I find really interesting, because once a year, the Nile floods, and that leaves the soil rich and ready to use!
I’ve made some friends, which are really nice to me! The girl is called Nubia, she’s 17 and she’s married! She said that at the age of 15 she married with Ramses, which is my other friend, he’s 19.
We all go together to see the Nile, because for the three of us, it is the most beautiful thing in all Egypt, well, at least of what we have seen.
Look! Here I have drawn something like my dad did, he said if I kept going like this, it would be easy to me to become whatever I want!
1313 b.C
Three years have passed since I write in here, Now I’m 18 and it all seems to be a kid thing, but I’m doing it anyway.
One year ago I married Nephthys, which I’ve known since I was little. I don't know how but I literally fall in love with her and our parents agreed to our marriage! i'm so excited! Here I present her:
Hi! Im Nephthys! I can’t believe what Yair wrote! reading this it's just like reading his thoughts! I feel honoured! Well, first of all, I’ve been in love with Yair since a while ago, but I’m so happy he finally noticed me, and look at us (not literally)! We’re a happy family!
I also have to say that Yair is about to accomplish his dreams! He told his dad if he could see how he painted, it was like if he was a sponge and just suck all his knowledge! The pharaoh saw how he was drawing in a piece of paper and told him that he personally recommended him to paint in tombs! So that means he has the pharaoh in his side! He’s so lucky!
I work just the same as Yair’s mother, in agriculture! What he said about the Nile, it's true! But he did not mention that the floodings happen in summer.
We grow wheat, papyrus (to make paper), barley, and the most important crop are the grains.
That's it! Here’s your host!
She’s great! And she is very religious, just as me!
We believe in gods like Anubis, or Ra, and Amón, Osiris, Horus, Isis, and all of those.
Which I think their legends are just great! But especially Osiris and Seth’s myth, which I love! How Nephthys tells the story.
1309 b.C
I’m getting older for this, but the adrenaline wins.
I have three kids! Twins and a daughter!
Nefertiti, is the name of my older daughter. Her name comes of a Legend my mother used to tell me, of Nefertiti, the Nile and the poor goddess. She was a great women, at least in the story.
My twins are both male, Mohamed and Yair II are their names, also Muhammad is named after a character in Nefertiti’s legend, a weak, poor and wise man that showed Nefertiti the way.
And Yair, of course, because of me.
Nephthys is pregnant! If she is a girl, she’ll totally be Nubia, in honour to my friend, which I forgot to mention, she died giving birth to his son, named after me.
Also I made my first painting in the tomb of a rich priest, who I didn’t like a lot, but I enjoyed making all those hieroglyphics.
1305 b.C
26! Recently my birthday, celebrated with my 5 kids! Nefertiti, Yair, Mohamed, Nubia and Neith. And my wife Nephthys.
I got to be a really famous pinter, me and some partners painted the tomb of the pharaoh’s sister!
Nephthys is really good at her work! She provides food to the people and that makes me glad. Hope my parents were here to see how well they raised me.
I’m so excited, Nefertiti’s birthday is in one week! I think I know what I’m going to give her.
A rock, but not any rock,a secret message written in it “Follow your instincts” it’ll say.
1302 b.C
I am very sorry, but Yair, is dead, because of an infection that nobody could control, I know that he would want me to write this, so I will.
Seven months ago, he painted the pharaoh’s tomb, he was so proud of himself.
I am pregnant, hopefully for a boy, to call him Amon, like my father, who was also a painter.
I pray to Anubis, the god of death, that is taking care of our beloved Yair.
Love, Nephthys.
Reflection:
I liked this story a lot. My knowledge about Egipt helped me write an amazing story I enjoyed. It was a great assessment in which I learned some other stuff about egiptian culture.

The Rock Pool Food Web
Rock Pool Food Web
Every food web/chain has a producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer and a carnivore.
It is evident that the green seaweed is the producer, because it doesn’t feeds from something else, it produces its’ own food.
The whelk is the primary consumer, because it eats the producer.
The small fish is a carnivore, because it feeds from animals like whelks and shrimps.
The shore crab can be a carnivore because it feeds from animals, or a secondary consumer, because it also feeds from the producer and the primary consumer.
The sea anemone can be the predator because it feeds from planktons, or a prey, because some small fish feed from them.
The shrimp can be a predator, because it feeds from some planktons, but it is also a prey, because small fish and crabs feed from them.
The plant planktons are primary consumers because they feed from the producer (green seaweed).
The animal planktons are secondary consumers, because they feed from a primary consumer (plant plankton).
Daily change:
- When the tide is high, some animals can be moved around or even be pushed to other rock pools, but the most important change is that the tide can flush away the green seaweed (the producer) which would affects the whole food chain.
- Humans fishing. We sometimes go fishing and capture lots of animals. This can affect a food chain and the environment. For example, if we fish lots of little fishes, the number of sea anemones would rise, and the number of seagulls might fall.
Seasonal change:
- A seasonal change is temperature. When the temperature is low, the rock pool might freeze, and that means some predators would die from lack of food, and the producer would die of lack of sunlight.
- When it’s summer, the temperature is really high, which means the heat might evaporate some of the water, which would reduce some animals’ space to swim around, and some animals would get stuck in rocks and could die.
The prey (whelk): Has adapted to the Rock Pool conditions because it has a shell and two claws that protects it from its’ predator. They have ten legs, and the two at the back are larger and wider, which helps them swim faster and if needed, to escape from predators.
The predator (seagull): Has also adapted to the rock pool conditions, because it has a thin and sharp pike so it’s easier to eat little fishes. Their eyesight is really good, which makes them easy to spot a prey. Also they have wide wings, that help them to approach faster to their prey.
Fishes and whelks are suited to living in a rock pool because there are minerals to nourish them. There is quick and easy food for them to eat. They are also not too big, and the rock pools are actually kind of small, which suits them perfectly. Fishes can breathe underwater, and they don’t have to rise to the surface once in awhile to survive. Whelks have their protection towards the predators.
In the Rock Pool food web, we can identify that the green seaweed is the producer. Whelks, shore crabs, sea anemone and shrimps are the preys, and the maximum predator is the seagull, but other predator can be the sea anemone too.
The energy we have in our bodies will eventually move on to another organism, no matter if they’re predators or even bacteria.
The food we eat (some) was once a living organism, and we consume their energies.
If we eat an animal that has fed with other living organism, we will consume the organism’s energies, that once were eaten by the animal.
The point is that by feeding with living organisms, we might are as well consuming the energies from a whole food chain/web.
The arrows on a food chains show where the energy is being transferred.
For example: A seagull eats a crab, the crab ate a whelk, but that whelk once fed from a seaweed, and we’re eating the seagull. That means we end up consuming the energy of a food chain/web.
